Speeding Motorcycle in Harriman State Park

Tuxedo Park, United States

22 Aug, 2020 - 6 years ago - on Harriman Private Level Road

Route 106 (and also Arden Valley Road) are notorious with wanna-be MotoGP and street racers.  They do laps up and down often doubling or tripling the speed limit (15-40mph).  This puts the lives of other park patrons at risk.  Thousands of cyclists, hikers, boaters etc use the park and these roads to access different areas.  There are many kids hiking and swimming in summer.  Yet, in 20 years of riding here, I have yet to witness a police operation by the NY State Park Police to target these speeders.  I've witnessed countless motorcycles and sports cars flipped over in the woods or in collisions with other vehicles.  Every weekend their should be a speed trap set up.  It will raise a lot of money for the struggling parks and also send the message that speeding is not allowed.
